Rusia a livrat cu titlu gratuit un nou transport de arme destinat guvernului Republicii Centrafricane, a informat ambasadorul rus din Bangui. „Este vorba de arme de asalt, mitraliere, puşti cu lunetă, pistoale, aruncătoare de grenade, grenade şi muniţii”, a declarat ambasadorul rus Vladimir Titorenko. Moscova a mai donat sute de arme de infanterie în 2019, precum şi alte 10 transportoare de trupe BRDM-2 oferite drept „cadou”, anul trecut. În 2017, Consiliul de Securitate al ONU a aprobat o misiune de antrenament a Rusiei, precum şi trimiterea de arme către guvernul local. În schimbul sprijinului militar, Vladimir Putin speră să obţină drepturi exclusive de explorare a zăcămintelor din subsolul Republicii Centrafricane.
